Danny Williams Wins GOP County Mayor Primary in a Landslide
Charlotte, TN — On May 5, 2026 Danny Williams defeated Stacey Batey in the county’s most high profile race for Mayor. According to unofficial results released Tuesday night, Williams received 3,159 votes, or 70.86%, compared to Batey’s 1,259 votes, or 28.24%. Williams built a commanding lead through early voting, where he nearly tripled Batey’s totals.
The mayoral race was one of only a handful of contested local races on the Republican ballot, as many county offices were either uncontested or had no officially qualified candidates.
Sheriff Tim Eads easily secured renomination, receiving 3,906 votes, or 98.81%. Circuit Court Judge Joshua Turnbow also cruised to victory with 99.82% of the vote.
Several county commission races featured little opposition, though two districts saw competitive contests. In District 12, Johnnie Reed defeated Cindi Gray with 57.84% of the vote. In District 2, Kenny McCallister defeated Valerie B. Littleton with 67.80%.
Other Republican county commission winners included Randy Simpkins in District 1, Dennis M. O’Shea in District 3, Joey Wenck in District 4, James “Cotton” Dawson in District 5, Richard E. Riehn in District 7, Jody Britt in District 8, Michael S. Petty in District 9, and John C. Stritikus in District 10.
Districts 6 and 11 had no qualified Republican candidates.
School board races also saw limited competition. In District 2, Jerry Baker defeated Walter “Chip” Gray by a margin of 64.38% to 35.46%. Philip Chadwick won School Board District 4, while Aaron Parker won District 6, both unopposed.
A notable trend throughout the election was the continued dominance of early voting. In nearly every major race, candidates received substantially more votes during the early voting period than on Election Day itself.
The election also highlighted the Republican Party’s continued dominance in Dickson County politics.
Unofficial results were posted Tuesday night by the Dickson County Election Commission. Final certified totals are expected later this month.
