Dickson Senior Activity Center’s Grant Funding Increased For 2026–27
Dickson, TN —The Dickson City Council approved an amendment Feb. 2, 2026 that will increase grant funding for the city’s Senior Activity Center over the next two years.
Council members unanimously passed Resolution #2026-16 authorizing the mayor to sign Amendment 1 to the city’s grant contract with the Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging.
The amendment adds $8,857 in funding for 2026 and 2027, bringing the total grant amount to $31,857.
Supporting services for older residents
While the dollar amount is modest compared to larger infrastructure projects discussed at recent meetings, the funding directly supports programs and services for Dickson’s senior population.
Senior centers often provide:
Social and recreational programming
Health and wellness activities
Educational opportunities
Community meals
Resource referrals and outreach
Additional grant funds can help maintain or expand these services, offset operational costs, and ensure programming remains accessible to local residents.
Why it matters
As Dickson continues to grow, so does its senior population. Community services funding — even in smaller increments — plays an important role in maintaining quality-of-life resources for older residents.
Grant support reduces pressure on the city’s general fund while allowing the Senior Activity Center to continue offering programs that promote social engagement, independence, and well-being.
The funding increase reflects ongoing partnership between local government and the state to support aging residents in Dickson.
The next regular session of the Dickson City Council is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 2, at Dickson City Hall.
