Dickson Plans Electric Vehicle Charging Station
The Dickson City Council took a step toward expanding electric vehicle infrastructure at the January 5th, 2026 City Council meeting by unanimously approving an agreement that would allow for the installation and operation of a public electric vehicle charging station on city property.
The council approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Dickson Electric System for the installation and operation of the charging station. The agreement is contingent on the city and the electric utility agreeing on a final location.
While the resolution does not specify where the charging station will be placed, the approval establishes a framework for cooperation between the city and Dickson Electric System once a suitable public site is identified.
City officials did not discuss a timeline or cost for the project during the meeting. The action taken by the council authorizes the agreement itself, allowing planning to continue once a location is selected.
The move signals a gradual shift toward accommodating electric vehicles within the city’s public infrastructure, even as broader transportation and energy decisions remain under development.
The resolution was approved unanimously.
The City Council is scheduled to meet next at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2. Regular council meetings are broadcast on the Community Access Channel on Comcast 19.
