Dickson County Sheriff’s Office Receives Tier 1 Jail Accreditation

Dickson, TN — The Dickson County Sheriff’s Office has received Tier 1 accreditation for its jail from the Tennessee Corrections Institute, marking a significant milestone for the county’s correctional facility and its leadership.

According to the sheriff’s office, the accreditation recognizes that the Dickson County Jail is operating at a higher professional standard and following specific guidelines established for correctional facilities across Tennessee. Tier 1 accreditation is awarded to jails that demonstrate compliance with operational, safety, and administrative standards established by the Tennessee Corrections Institute.

Sheriff Tim Eads, along with Chief Deputy Murphy, Chief Jailer Hayes, and other command staff members, were present to receive the certificate recognizing the achievement.

The Tennessee Corrections Institute evaluates local detention facilities across the state to ensure they meet required standards for inmate care, facility operations, staffing, and safety procedures. Accreditation is intended to ensure that county jails operate in accordance with established best practices in corrections management.

Officials said the recognition reflects the work of the jail staff and leadership in maintaining those standards. The sheriff’s office described the accreditation as confirmation that the facility is operating professionally and following the guidelines set by the institute.

The Dickson County Sheriff’s Office shared the announcement on social media, noting that the accreditation represents a continued effort to maintain professional standards in the county’s detention system.

Tiered accreditation programs are commonly used in correctional oversight to measure compliance with operational policies and procedures. Achieving Tier 1 status indicates that a facility meets the institute’s core requirements and is operating within the professional standards expected of Tennessee correctional institutions.

Local officials said the recognition reflects the work of corrections staff who manage the day-to-day operations of the jail and ensure compliance with the institute’s standards.

The certification places the Dickson County Jail among facilities statewide recognized for meeting the guidelines established by the Tennessee Corrections Institute.
