Dickson County School Board to Consider Director’s Contract Extension in October

Dickson, TN — The Dickson County School Board is expected to discuss a possible extension of its director of schools’ contract at its October meeting, Board Chair Steve Haley said.

Speaking near the end of the board’s September meeting, Haley said members had completed the director’s evaluation before the election but had not addressed a contract extension because of time constraints surrounding the election cycle.

“We ran into time restraints based on the election cycle and we could not address that,” Haley told the board.

Haley asked that the extension be placed on the agenda for the next regular meeting. He said the board must give the public 15 days’ notice before discussing the director’s contract.

The September meeting included no discussion of proposed contract terms, salary or the length of a possible extension. The board did not vote on an extension.

The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for October 22 at 7 p.m. at the district’s central office.
