Dickson County Commission Approves Broadband and Technology Agreement with Ignite
Charlotte, TN — The Dickson County Commission approved a new inter-local agreement Monday night that will allow county government to directly utilize broadband, phone, and technology services through Ignite Broadband.
The agreement, presented during the commission’s regular session, is designed to streamline the county’s ability to purchase technology infrastructure and communication services without going through a separate bidding process each time equipment or services are needed.
County officials said the partnership will give departments access to a variety of telecommunications and technology resources offered through Ignite Broadband.
“This would be you authorizing the county to enter into an agreement with Ignite Broadband so that the county can utilize those services directly without having to go and bid that service,” county officials explained during the meeting.
Under the agreement, the county will be able to purchase:
Phone equipment
Internet and data infrastructure
Technology hardware
Broadband and phone services provided through Ignite Broadband.
Commissioners approved the agreement without opposition following a motion and second from members of the commission.
The move reflects continued efforts by local governments across Middle Tennessee to modernize communications infrastructure and improve access to reliable broadband and technology systems for public operations.
Ignite Broadband has increasingly partnered with local governments and public institutions throughout the region as demand for faster internet connectivity and updated communications infrastructure continues to grow.
County leaders did not discuss any immediate technology purchases tied to the agreement during Monday’s meeting, but the approval now gives the county flexibility to use Ignite services for future projects and operational needs without additional procurement hurdles.
