Terry Malone Approved to Lead Combined Economic Development and Tourism Department

Dickson, TN — Dickson County commissioners unanimously approved the appointment of Terry Malone to lead a newly combined Economic Development and Tourism Department during the March 16, 2026 Dickson County Commission meeting.

The move formally consolidates two key areas of county growth—economic development and tourism—under a single director, a structure county leaders say will help better align long-term planning and promotion efforts.

Malone, who was introduced to the commission during a previous meeting, was present at Monday night’s session as commissioners voted to confirm her appointment. The motion passed without discussion or opposition.

Economic development efforts typically focus on recruiting industry, supporting local businesses, and expanding the county’s tax base. Tourism, meanwhile, promotes local attractions, events, and cultural assets that draw visitors—and their spending—into the community.

The combined department could play a key role in shaping how the county markets itself moving forward—both to companies considering relocation and to visitors exploring the region.
