Republican Marsha Blackburn, Democrat Jerri Green Lead Governor’s Race into November Election
Nashville, TN — Dickson County voters will help choose Tennessee’s next governor Nov. 3, with Republican nominee Marsha Blackburn and Democratic nominee Jerri Green leading the contest to succeed term-limited Gov. Bill Lee. Blackburn, a U.S. senator, and Green, a Memphis City Council member, secured their parties’ nominations in August.
Blackburn finished first in Dickson County’s Republican primary with 2,770 votes, ahead of John Rose’s 2,126 and Monty Fritts’ 1,769. Her local victory reflected the statewide outcome, where she defeated both challengers to advance to November.
Green led the county’s Democratic primary with 1,479 votes. Carnita Atwater received 274, followed by Tim Cyr with 122, Kevin Lee McCants with 102, and Adam “Ditch” Kurtz with 77. Green also won the statewide Democratic nomination.
The general election also includes independent candidates Lauren Pinkston and David Hatley, both of whom have gained grassroots support here locally. As independents, they did not compete in the Republican or Democratic primaries and will appear among the November choices.
Early voting runs Oct. 14–29, ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
