Old Municipal Building Demolished as Dickson City Center Project Moves Ahead

Dickson, TN — Dickson’s old municipal building has been demolished, marking a visible step forward for the new City Center following a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday September 11, 2026.

Officials told the Dickson Planning Commission that demolition crews had already removed the building prior to the September 16th meeting. The update underscored how quickly work moved from the ceremonial start of the project to clearing the site for construction.

“If you drive by there, there’s a hole in the ground now,” one official told commissioners.

With the old building gone, attention turns to construction of its replacement. Officials said the construction management team has an 18 month contract and is committed to completing the project within that period. March 2028 was discussed as the anticipated completion timeframe.

Staff said that commitment extends to the contractors, subcontractors and crews who will carry out the work. The construction team has communicated the schedule to those involved and emphasized the sustained effort needed to meet it.

The transition was already underway around the time of the groundbreaking. Officials said demolition workers were waiting nearby during the ceremony, ready to proceed once the event ended.

The March 2028 timeframe remains the anticipated schedule discussed by officials. The update did not include a detailed construction calendar or dates for individual milestones.
