Dickson Electric Restores Power to All Customers Following Winter Storm Fern

Dickson Electric System announced late Saturday night (Jan. 31, 2026) that all customers affected by Winter Storm Fern have now had power restored, bringing an end to a multi-day outage that impacted approximately 22,000 customers across its service territory.

According to the utility, restoration efforts lasted six days and required a full-scale response involving local crews, office staff, engineers, managers, and outside contractors. Dickson Electric said crews worked around the clock in hazardous winter conditions to repair widespread damage caused by ice accumulation, fallen trees, and shifting winds.

DES credited both its internal staff and mutual-aid contractors for completing restoration in what it described as record time for a storm of this magnitude. Contractors traveled from outside the region to assist with repairs, allowing additional crews to be deployed simultaneously across multiple outage locations.

Although system-wide restoration is complete, Dickson Electric said crews remain active addressing remaining service-related damage and completing reconnects where individual customer equipment was affected. The utility also warned that melting ice and changing wind conditions could still result in scattered outages in the coming days and said it will continue to respond as needed.

Dickson Electric thanked customers for their patience during the storm and emphasized the importance of restoring essential services during extreme weather events. They are encouraging customers to report any new outages by calling 615-446-9051 and selecting option one.
