Dickson, TN — The Dickson County Board of Education recently received an update on construction at the Dickson County High School sports complex, with officials saying the new turf and tennis courts are in good condition and that remaining work is expected to be finished before graduation.

During the board’s January meeting, maintenance staff shared the results of a recent walkthrough of the football turf and tennis courts at Dickson County High School. According to the update, both areas were found to be in good shape, with only a small number of minor items identified on the turf that will need follow-up attention. Several administrators and staff members were present for the walkthrough and expressed satisfaction with the overall condition of the facilities.

While major portions of the projects are complete, some work remains. District officials said outstanding items include sections of concrete work, track-related work, and the installation of bleacher rails. Contractors have indicated that this remaining work is expected to be finished well ahead of spring graduation ceremonies.

Maintenance staff noted that recent cold weather has slowed progress in some areas, particularly concrete work, which is sensitive to temperature. Crews have continued limited tasks when conditions allow, including sealing and caulking work, but officials described the current period as a temporary lull rather than a setback.

In addition to construction updates, board members briefly discussed future maintenance planning for the turf facilities. Officials noted that vendors offer different long-term maintenance options, ranging from annual service plans to more comprehensive repair programs. District leaders said they may revisit those options at a later date and could invite representatives to provide more detailed explanations if the board wants to explore long-term maintenance contracts.

Overall, district officials said the facilities projects remain on track and that students, athletes, and the community should see fully completed fields and amenities in time for end-of-year activities.
