DCHS Sports Complex Nears Major Milestone As Turf Installation Pushes Toward Completion
Dickson, TN — The long-anticipated transformation of the Dickson County High School sports complex is entering a visible and exciting phase, with district leaders reporting that the new turf field is on track to be completed on time. The update, shared during the December 18th, 2025 school board meeting, highlighted rapid progress on the field surface, bleachers, and overall site improvements—changes that are already reshaping the look and feel of one of the district’s most heavily used athletic spaces.
Officials emphasized that while the project is not finished, the work completed in recent weeks represents a major milestone and signals that the complex is moving steadily toward completion.
According to the update, crews are in the final stretch of installing the turf field. Large white bags visible at the site contain the rubber pellet and sand infill that will be spread across the surface—an essential step that stabilizes the turf and ensures proper playability and safety.
Once the infill process is complete, only the tips of the turf fibers will remain visible, giving the field its finished, game-ready appearance. Lines for football, soccer, and lacrosse have already been incorporated into the turf, allowing the field to serve multiple sports without the wear and tear associated with natural grass.
District officials said the contractor’s goal is to complete the turf portion of the project soon, weather permitting.
Beyond the field itself, the bleachers have undergone a dramatic facelift. Years of buildup and discoloration have been removed, and fresh paint and repairs have left the seating areas looking nearly new.
Additional visual upgrades include:
Repainting and refreshing the backside wall facing Highway 70
Updated blue and orange striping
A newly restored “DC” emblem that reinforces school pride
School leaders noted that side-by-side comparisons of before-and-after photos underscore just how significant the improvements have been.
While the turf and bleachers represent the most visible progress so far, more work remains. The next phase of the project, expected to continue into January, includes:
Installation of actual metal seating on the bleachers
Final work and inspections on the tennis courts
Additional finishing details across the complex
District representatives stressed that the project is being completed in phases to ensure quality and minimize disruptions.
Community members interested in following the project don’t have to wait for the next board meeting. Daily video updates are being posted online, with the district live-streaming construction progress and archiving footage on YouTube, with links available on the school board’s website.
School officials also indicated that a time-lapse video is planned once the project reaches a later stage, offering a full visual record of the transformation.
The public is encouraged to view the updates online, but it was stressed that everyone needs to stay off of the field and out of the complex until the work is completed.
