Creek Wood Partners With 80 Local Businesses to Provide Student Work Experience

Charlotte, TN — Creek Wood High School is partnering with 80 local businesses to provide internships and job placements for 83 students participating in the school’s work based learning program.

Student representatives shared the figures during the September meeting of the Dickson County School Board.

The 83 students completed orientation on Aug. 28 and recently began reporting to their placements. They said many participants are already receiving hands on experience through the program.

Work based learning connects classroom instruction with experience in actual workplaces. Depending on the placement, students may explore a possible career, develop job skills and build professional relationships before graduating from high school.

The partnership also gives local employers an opportunity to introduce students to careers available in Dickson County and the surrounding area.
