Dickson, TN — The City of Dickson honored one of its longest serving public safety leaders recently, recognizing Dickson Fire Department Assistant Chief Kane Sesler upon his retirement after more than three decades of service to the community.
During the Feb. 2, 2026, Dickson City Council meeting, Mayor Don L. Weiss Jr. presented Sesler with an official proclamation thanking him for serving the “citizens of Dickson with integrity, honor and dedication for 31 years and 29 days.” The moment marked the closing chapter of a career that began in the mid-1990s and spanned a generation of growth for the department and the city.
Sesler, a 1989 graduate of Dickson County High School, joined the Dickson Fire Department on Jan. 11, 1995. Over the course of his career he rose through the ranks before being appointed Assistant Chief on Feb. 12, 2017. His tenure included responding to emergencies across the community while also helping shape training, leadership, and departmental operations.
Throughout his service, Sesler received multiple departmental honors, including the Distinguished Service Ribbon, Life Saving Ribbon, and Educational Ribbon — recognitions reflecting both frontline response and professional development.
Beyond his work in fire service, Sesler has remained active in the community, serving as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Developmental Services of Dickson County.
A public reception honoring Sesler’s retirement was held on Friday, Feb. 6, at the Fellowship Hall of Walnut Street Church of Christ.
Sesler and his wife, Kim, live in Charlotte and have two daughters, Sierra Sesler McGee and AnnaLee Sesler-McKinney.
